Teacher Derrick Jay is a stage name I, Dirk Jonker, use to distinguish my Teaching English to Foreign Language Speakers (TEFL) work from my acting. My acting background and growing up in an English speaking country have led to Advanced skills in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing in English, and I am good with accents too – I completed the Pearson Test of English and received the highest possible grades. I am planning to complete the Cambridge Exam soon. This video shows off my Mid-Atlantic/Netflix accent, it’s not quite American, because I push the T’s, S’s and round certain sounds to make them more easily distinguishable.
